A classic Italian-American dish consisting of spaghetti and meatballs cooked in a delicious tomato sauce.
Spaghetti with Meatballs
Ingredients
- 1 pound spaghetti
- 1 pound ground beef
- 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
- 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 egg
- 1/4 cup chopped fresh parsley
- 1/4 cup milk
- Salt and pepper, to taste
- Olive oil, for cooking
- 1 onion, diced
- 2 cans (28 ounces each) crushed tomatoes
- 1 teaspoon dried basil
- 1 teaspoon dried oregano
Instructions
- Cook spaghetti according to package instructions.
- In a large bowl, combine ground beef, breadcrumbs, Parmesan cheese, garlic, egg, parsley, milk, salt, and pepper.
- Mix well and form into meatballs.
- In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat.
- Add meatballs and cook until browned on all sides. Remove meatballs from skillet and set aside.
- In the same skillet, add onion and cook until softened.
- Add crushed tomatoes, basil, and oregano.
- Simmer for 20 minutes.
- Return meatballs to skillet and simmer for an additional 10 minutes.
- Serve meatballs and sauce over cooked spaghetti.
