A spicy tomato-based pasta dish
Penne all’Arrabbiata
Ingredients
- 1 lb penne pasta
- 1 can of crushed tomatoes
- 1 small onion, finely chopped
- 3 cloves of garlic, minced
- 1/4 tsp red pepper flakes
- 1/4 cup olive oil Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
- Cook pasta according to package directions until al dente.
- In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat.
- Add onion and cook until translucent, about 5 minutes.
- Add garlic and red pepper flakes, and cook for an additional minute.
- Add the can of crushed tomatoes to the skillet, and bring to a simmer.
- Reduce heat and let simmer for about 10 minutes.
- Season the sauce with salt and pepper to taste.
- Drain the pasta and add it to the skillet with the sauce.
- Toss to coat.
- Serve hot with grated Parmesan cheese, if desired.
